Morning everyone, Can someone give some advice on dusting crickets? I've got a feeling I really overdid the calcium dusting last night. She's eaten the three crickets that were in there, and seems to be acting herself, but I suddely had a bit of a panic. Should I be worried or watching out for anything if they have been over-dusted? Will definately be a little less heavy handed with the calcium next time. Thanks

I've done this before, it looked like he was eating sherbert!
I think if the behaviour is normal, one large exposure to calcium is unlikey to do any damage. If its repeated many times though thats when trouble will start to appear, so I wouldn't worry too much for the moment. If there are any significant changes then perhaps a vet would be a good idea, but is she is acting fine then I'm sure it won't be an issue.

to avoid over-dusting, i usually put a tiny bit in a sandwhich bag, then add the live food, tie in a knot, and literally shake the **** out of it lol and then the live food has a nice tiny coating of calcium on them, so no worrys of over doing it

Don't worry, it wont do any harm. As Ras said if it is a regular thing then it could cause problems but just once won't.

Poor crickets, they will end up with concussion - surely that would be a case for the RSPCA

I shake them up in an old plastic tub.... really hard! It disorientates them so easier for the youngsters to catch

Lord Spike has got used to the approaching jam jar now, so he tenses up before the cricket falls out and het nails it before the cricket even has a chance to figure out what;s happened.
It's quite an impressive sight to see the gecko pounce onto them.
