Pets at home has opened! wohooo...so nice inside, stuff is good price...staff are very friendly, had some long chats with a few staff about the reptiles and reptile keeping, was great! i got talking to one guy, and my mum picked me up a form, and anyways chatting went on, and she said i wanted to work here, and he said they are looking for part time, we need staff for the reptile section...uhh and the, then i said yeah thats what i want to do! Anyways he was like do you know temps/cleaning/food/calcium etc for beardies and leos, i was like Yes! he said when you go for an interview make sure you tell them how long you've kept reps for and how much you know about them, you'll be the reptile specialist! i was gobsmacked...lol i'd love to do that! reptile specialist just means that if anyone comes in and wants to buy a reptile, they will speak to the specialist and find out lengths they grow to, rough weight, they're diet, cleaning, substrate and temps etc. Im excited lol i hope i get in! going to do the form tonight :D

Fingers crossed Perry! I've heard really bad things about reptile sections at local PAH stores because the specialists know nothing about them, so it'll be a fantastic for your area to have you as theirs. You'll be able to advise people properly. I really hope you get it

thanks alot for the support guys ...i got chatting to a member of staff and was asking if they were getting any other geckos etc and they said not for the moment as this store is a tester, if it does really well then there will be alot more opening all over london, we got talking about snakes and they said snakes is a problem for them as the food they need is hard for them to get ahold of (i didnt ask why) as they eat mice etc. But im sure if im there working, i could put ideas across, seen astho ive had cresties now for about 2-3 months now, and they are doing very well, il be able to tell them i know how to feed/temps etc...(because they were saying they need this buisness to do well etc) i could allways put the idea of cresties across, about how easy they are and popular, im sure they would consider it. This pets at home store is really stunning, i checked the tanks + beardies and they all looked healthy and fine, the correct food was put down and calcium was on the vegg and a calcium dish was in place, they had there basking lamps, the only thing i didnt get to check was the leo's, as they were sleeping, they're vivs look really cool, they have blue lights in there so it looks really dark inside, not bright.

I got the job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ive got to start tomorrow at 5pm to see how the delivery works and ive got to take part in putting the stock away, making sure its clean, and then tidy the shop up. Then ive got a 7 day trial where il be taught the basics such as stock check, serving at the till, daily routines etc, and at the end of it if it feels right for me, il be getting paid for that and il be on a 12 hour week contract, so its part time for now, but the manager said there will be alot more hours opening up for me in the future as they need some other faces doing the reptile section, as its only her at the moment! Im defo going to carry on after the 7 days so the jobs basically mine! as soon as i gave the form in, they contacted me 20 mins later, and i had the interview at 4pm...it went really great...got interviewed by the manager and some guy who was high up in the ranks, as even the manager was asking him questions etc, they had both been working for pets at homes for 10 years so i felt abit intimidated lol but it went really well! they asked questions like "what percentage do you think this company actually interacts with the animals" i answered 5% and they said i was spot on, and that most people say 45%, which is not right as they are mostly retail. got stuck on one question but it was somthing that was hard to get out of lol the question was "how would you react and deal with a customer complaint where someone had purchased a fish, then died a few days later?" i answered "i would ask them what they had in the tank, was it with other fish, was the tank clean, what food did you feed, how much food did you feed etc" and they then said "what if they did everything right....?" "i was like urm...welll...i'd probly say...lol idk" and they was like dont worry hes just trying to save the company, and they started laughing and said you offer a refund or a new fish, but overall they was impressed as members of staff were telling me that the manager had smiles all over her face after the interview and was saying good things! so glad i got it, sorry i went on abit lol but im just so excited...my first job!

ahhhh knackering day...i never told them about my back injury i didnt want to seem like i was making excuses lol, had to put like...tonns of stock away, ranging from hundreds of small items, to big 15kg bags of bird seed + dog food etc. started at 5pm and finished at 8:30, i tell you what...pets at home really want them to have a good reputation, they made us spend 45 minutes making everything in the store straight, and pulled to the front, and even the dog food bags had to be flat at the front and tucked in. The guy showing me the ropes was like, i know it seems pathetic but we do it because if the customers see a shitty store, they will treat it as a shitty store, and we dont want that. They got some good reptile stuff, like sieves for taking out the poo and clumps in the sand (if u have leo's or beardys) i think it was like £3.99 for that, im going to get one :D. I had a nice glimpse at the leo's today, as they were coming out as i was leaving, they are very nervous though, only saw them for like 4 seconds they darted under there hide, they are babys aswell, long time since ive seen a baby leo in person . Thanks guys for the kind words, much apreciated. BTW im back in tomorrow at 9am! :@ lol
