Hi everyone,
I've read articles that suggest cresties can chirp and make noise. Do yours? So far as I'm aware mine is totally silent (apart from the noise he makes moving around, that would deafen an elephant!) but I would love to hear him vocalise something.
Any ideas on how i could get him to make noise?
Thanks.

I have heard mine a few times. The sound is quite hard to describe its a cross between a chirp and a croak. Mine only do it now and again in mating season. I think it is some sort of mating call. Do you just have the one male Crestie?

Yeah, just the one male. Does that mean he's unlikely to call?
I would be up for getting him a female, except that I don't want to have to deal with eggs at the moment. Will he be ok just by himself? I handle him every day to give him something to think about, but I guess it is quite a lonely life, being a pet.

I think it would be more likely if there was a female with him.
You don't need to get him a female. In the wild they are solitary animals so would be alone their whole life except for mating. If you wanted to put a female in then you would need to have another setup for the quarantine period and be prepared to seperate them after they have mated so the female doesn't get stressed by the males constant harassment.

Funny you mention chirping. Just yesterday I was holding my gecko and she randomly chirped! It was funny. First time I'd really heard it good.

Ive not heard my cresties make any noises what so ever, but i have heard and recorded my new leachianus making noises. He can whistle, croak, bark, hiss, and plenty of other noises lol. I think only way your crestie will make a noise, is if you was to scare him badly (which would be animal cruelty in my opinion), or if he was in a mating mood. so your chances of hearing it are very slim

No I don't want to scare him! I want him to be as tame as possible, I've taken to feeding him when I take him out of his enclosure in an attempt to get him to associate my with something positive, lol.

Mine has quacked at me before, it was more of an AAK than anything because I tried to pick him up from the glass and he didn't want to be picked up.

Haha, I hate trying to get mine off the glass. I've taken to waiting until he is asleep in his leaves so that before he has a chance to realise what's going on I've already got him Then I give him crickets so he will like me... lol.
